HBO and Warner Bros. Television are in the process of selecting new actors for playing young Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger in a new television series. And if you have what it takes to be a witch or wizard and fight the dark forces, then you may have the opportunity to attend the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The casting call is for children aged between 9 and 11 years in April 2025 and must be a resident of the UK and Ireland. The notice also states that casting will be equal opportunity regardless of race, ethnicity or gender identity.
Lately, people have come across an ad for “an upcoming HBO Original series adaptation of Harry Potter, produced by HBO” and it has been verified to be genuine by Variety.
The casting call also lets out a small detail regarding the start of shooting by putting down the filming dates as 2025-2026 in the UK. The submissions are due by October 31, 2024. The actors who meet the above criteria should send two short self-taped auditions using their own accents.
In addition, they must choose and perform a reading of a 30-second short poem or story from a book other than the Harry Potter series and they need to record a one-minute video “telling us a bit about yourself, including your date of birth, height and where you live. In addition, please describe any family member, friend or pet that you are particularly close to.”

Harry Potter television series is produced by two times Primetime Emmy Award winner Francesca Gardiner; she is the writer as well as the showrunner.
Gardiner will also serve as an executive producer with Mark Mylod, who will also direct several episodes of the series for HBO in association with Rowling’s UK-based Bronte Film and TV, as reported by ComicBook.com.
JK Rowling acts as the executive producer along with Neil Blair and Ruth Kenley-Letts for Bronte as well as David Heyman of Heyday Films.
During this year’s February earnings call, David Zaslav, CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, stated to Variety that the project is aiming for a 2026 premiere date. Seven seasons of the program are planned, each of which will adapt a novel from Rowling’s series, Zaslav added.
