Divya Dutta, one of the most prolific actresses in the Bollywood film industry, once received guidance from actor Salman Khan on how to perform a scene in a 1995 movie. Today marks the 47th birthday of this veteran actor, known for delivering back-to-back hits in Bollywood.
Divya Dutta has appeared in more than 60 films, including international productions. She made her Bollywood debut in 1994 with Ishq Mein Jeena Ishq Mein Marna. Her notable works include Veergati, Veer Zaara, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Delhi 6, and many others.
In a recent interview, Dutta spoke about her relationship with Salman Khan, with whom she shared the screen in Veergati. She fondly recalled memories from the sets and revealed how Salman helped her perform a difficult scene in the 1995 film.
During a conversation with Siddharth Kannan, Dutta shared how she struggled while shooting a death scene for Veergati, as she couldn’t hold her breath properly. The film’s director, KK Singh, was losing patience with her as she repeatedly failed to execute the scene. Dutta explained that the closed space was suffocating, which made it hard for her to hold her breath.
Although she managed to complete other scenes without issue, this particular one proved to be a significant challenge. She was only 18 at the time and was intimidated by the strict director, who scolded her harshly. She added that she took the scolding to heart, as she had never been scolded at home.
Divya Dutta recalled how Salman Khan, having finished his shoot for the day, was sitting in his car when an assistant director informed him of her difficulties. He then came over to assist her, lying next to her during the scene and guiding her through the process. He sat opposite her and instructed her to follow his lead. By lying down during the shoot and offering support, he helped her finally complete the scene. Dutta also mentioned that even the director stepped back as Salman took charge of the situation. Dutta also remembered how Salman supported her and held her hand during her early days in the industry.
