Take IBNLive poll and vote wisely.

There have been several discussions and heated debates about the most deserving films in 2014. The past year saw an interesting blend of films that won commercial success and critical acclaim. So while the big films got bigger, several offbeat projects also found several takers. In the second edition of IBNLive Movie Awards, we select nominees in various popular categories and allow our readers decide the outcome. Take our poll to vote and choose your favourite performers of 2014.

These are the nominees in the Best Debut Directors:

Abhisehk Verma (2 States): Adapted from Chetan Bhagat's autobiographical novel, the film may have used several stereotypes about Tam-Brahms and Punjabis, but it was the dramatic clash it led to that entertained the viewers.

Nitin Kakkar (Filmistaan): Nitin Kakkar had faced problems in getting distributors for his movie 'Filmistaan' which had been part of several international film festivals, including the Busan International Film Festival in South Korea. But such was the impact of his film that it bagged several domestic awards along with the 60th National Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi. The film was striking especially for the manner in which it looked at the bitterness and love that people from both sides of the border inherited after Partition.

Omung Kumar (Mary Kom): Co-writer/filmmaker Omung Kumar was convincing at discussing a generic underdog story - about Olympic medalist Mary Kom who had to combat several obstacles to carve a niche for herself as a sportsperson. From the casting of Priyanka Chopra to Mary's struggles and Manipur's troubled political landscape, Omung was good at everything.
