Jackie Shroff may be a Bollywood star now, but he didn’t start out that way. In a recent chat with Ranveer Allahbadia, Jackie shared memories of his tough early years in Mumbai’s Teen Batti chawl. He remembered lining up every morning to use the shared bathroom for seven buildings. In the same chat, he also looked back fondly on simpler times, like sitting on the floor while his mother cooked dinner.
Jackie recalled, “I remember those years when I would stand outside chawl’s bathroom with my mug. There were seven small building and we had three bathrooms for all the people of those buildings. There would be a line outside the toilet every morning because people would be in a hurry to go work. This memory is still fresh in my mind. Sometimes I still see myself standing in that line.”
Reminiscing about simpler time, Jackie added, “I used to sit on the floor and eat, which is the best way to eat I think. My mother would cook and I would sit on the ground and eat. Those memories haven’t left my mind”.
Meanwhile, an old clip of Jackie Shroff revisiting Mumbai’s Teen Batti chawl has gone viral, showing the actor’s heartfelt return to his roots. About his humble home, he said, “I used to sleep on the floor of this room. I saw a snake in the corner of that room,. Once a rat bit me and my mom. This I am talking about mid 60s.”
On the professional front, Jackie Shroff has two exciting projects lined up. He will star in Singham Again, directed by Rohit Shetty, alongside a star-studded cast including Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Akshay Kumar, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Tiger Shroff and Arjun Kapoor. That apart, Shroff will feature in Baby John, an action drama directed by Kalees, which also stars Varun Dhawan and Keerthy Suresh. This film is a remake of Atlee’s Tamil hit Theri (2016).
