Javed Akhtar Says 'Dashing' Salman Khan Was 'Shy, Quiet' as a Child, Arbaaz Khan Was 'Seducer'

The trailer launch of Angry Young Men, Prime Video’s documentary on the lives and careers of legendary writing duo Javed Akhtar and Salim Khan was a star-studded affair. The event held in Mumbai saw Salman Khan, Arbaaz Khan, Sohail Khan, Farhan Akhtar, Zoya Akhtar, and Shabana Azmi gracing it. During an interaction, Javed spilled the beans on meeting Salman as a child, a revelation that left many rolling in after and Salman, blushing.

Walking down memory lane, Javed said, “Our kids told such amazing things about us today. But they were very young and they don’t remember much. We do. When I met Salim sahab for the first time, Salman wasn’t even one year old. It was the year 1965.” Salman is Salim and Salma Khan’s first and was born on December 27, 1965.

Salman may be leaving his female fans swooning with his charm and good looks ever since he became a Hindi film hero but Javed reveals that he was born a looker. “He’s really handsome today but he has been beautiful ever since he was a child. He was an exceptionally good-looking child. There was a small black-and-white photograph of him in their living room. I don’t know if it’s still there ya phir kho gayi hai, pata nahi,” he recalled.

Javed went on to talk about Arbaaz as well. Drawing comparisons between the brothers as children, he shared, “The other children were born in front of me. Today, Salman is the he-man and this dashing hero but he was a very shy and quiet child who spoke very less. Jo badmaash bachcha tha, woh tha Arbaaz. He was a regular seducer. He would befriend Salim sahab’s friends and build a special relationship with them. Arbaaz doesn’t remember the things he did as a child. When people would mingle with him, he would think ki yeh toh bada kamaal ka bachcha hai.”

However, there is one thing about Arbaaz that amused and stayed back with Javed even after all these years. “He would never have messy hair even as a child. Even at the age of six, he would come his hair. Imagine a six-year-old doing that! I never saw something like that. He had a lot of self-love,” he laughed.
