Kamal Haasan Reveals Indian 2 Release Date
Indian 2 is the sequel to the 1996 film, Indian, directed by S. Shankar, which is a vigilante action drama.

Kamal Haasan is one of the biggest stars in the country and has delivered some of the biggest blockbusters. Currently, his fans are going gaga regarding his upcoming project Indian 2. Previously, the makers had released a poster and shared that the film will grace the silver screens in June. However, as per the latest updates, the release date has changed.

Indian 2 is the sequel to the 1996 film, Indian, directed by S. Shankar. The upcoming Tamil vigilante action drama is backed by Subaskaran Allirajah’s Lyca Productions and Udhayanidhi Stalin’s Red Giant Movies. The film will see the superstar reprising his role as Senapathy, a freedom fighter turned vigilante who takes a strong stand against corruption. The film will feature Siddharth, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, SJ Suryah, Bobby Simha, Vivek and Priya Bhavani Shankar.

The Vikram actor recently shared a poster to announce the release date of the film on X, formerly known as Twitter. The tweet read, “Indian 2 Releasing worldwide in cinemas 12th July 2024!” The poster shows a silhouette of a man riding on a horse in the desert against a sunset background.

Naturally, his fans are excited. A comment read, “Senapathy is back again with a bang.” One more wrote, “All the best, sir. You are a great actor. Love from Karnataka.” A comment read, “And finally, Senapathy arrives. Best wishes to the team. Let this be the first Kollywood Rs.1000 Cr film.” “Wow! Great News sir! Eagerly waiting to watch. Wishing you a rocking success as always!”, read another comment.

The prequel of S Shankar’s film starred Kamal Haasan, Manisha Koirala, Urmila Matondkar and Kasthuri Shankar. Kamal Haasan was seen in the dual roles of Senapathy and Chandru, a righteous father and corrupt son, respectively. The story is about an army veteran who turns vigilante to stand against the corrupted officials and teach them a lesson. The film’s music department was handled by AR Rahman then. It was released in Telugu as Bharateeyudu and in Hindi as Hindustani.

Interestingly, the shooting for the third instalment of the film, Indian 3 has also been wrapped up. In an interview with The Hindu, Kamal Haasan shared, “We have completed Indian 2 and Indian 3. The post-production work of Indian 2 is currently happening. We will start work on Indian 3 post-production after we finish it.”
