Director Dibakar Banerjee’s popular film Khosla Ka Ghosla!released on September 22, 2006, and received accolades. The film was such a brilliant box-office success with the viewers that it was re-released on October 18. Producers Raaj and Savita Hiremath interacted with the media about the various aspects of Khosla Ka Ghosla. The producers talked about how they backed a film based on a simple story that did not have any glamour quotient, that Bollywood is known for. Savita told the portal, “When we sat on the story, because we understood products and brands and their value propositions very well, we were trying to create a brand as Khosla Ka Ghosla. It was not a film. So, if we have to create a brand, what all should go in around that? One basic thing is, it has to entertain people. It has to be cost-effective. It has to make money, and live longer”.
Khosla Ka Ghosla starred an ensemble star cast of Anupam Kher, Boman Irani, Parvin Dabas, Vinay Pathak, Ranvir Shorey, and Tara Sharma. Before the re-release of the film, the makers announced a second instalment of this project. Reacting to this, actor Ranvir Shorey, who played Anupam Kher’s son, said that there is nothing solid about it. In an interaction with the media, Ranvir said that there is nothing concrete about it. According to him, the producers have just talked about it in their press conference. When asked if would be keen on reprising the role if the second part works out, Ranvir said that given the right conditions, he would play the role again.
The film narrates the story of a middle-aged man portrayed by Anupam Kher whose dream of building a family home is dashed after his land is illegally grabbed by property thug Khurana. The second half narrates the family’s scheme to regain the land. Jaideep Sahni creatively bankrolled this film and also took on the role of writer for the project. Additionally, Tandav Film Entertainment Pvt Ltd banked Khosla Ka Ghosla.
Besides the film’s story and the impressive performance of the star cast, Khosla Ka Ghosla! is also remembered for its popular track Chak De Phattey.
