Vaazha: Biopic Of Billion Boys, one of this year’s sleeper hits, is set to release on the OTT platform. The film is directed by Anand Menen and written by Vipin Das. It stars Siju Sunny, Saaf Bros, Joemon Jyothir, Jagadish, Kottayam Nazeer, Azees Nedumangad, Noby Marcose, Amith Mohan Rajeshwari and Anuraj OB. The film was released in theatres on August 15. The film will be available to stream at Disney+ Hotstar, starting on September 23. Made on a budget of Rs 4 crore, the film grossed Rs 40 crore at the box office. The film follows the journey of a group of friends in a small Kerala town, who navigate through adulthood with few turbulences and trials. Vaazha delves into their friendships, relationships with their parents and their search for identity and purpose. As they grow older, the mounting pressure from parents and society to achieve success becomes increasingly overwhelming. The highlight of Vaazha is the subtle exploration of men’s issues – an area rarely discussed in mainstream cinema – wrapped in a lighthearted, relatable story. Vaazha resonated with the audience and emerged as one of the critically acclaimed films of 2024.

In exciting news for fans, barely days after Vaazha hit the big screens, the film’s writer and director Vipin Das confirmed that a sequel is already in the works. The announcement was made after the overwhelming response to its first part. The extra shows were charted in Kerala theatres due to positive response after Vaazha’s release. The excitement surrounding the sequel is already palpable, with Vipin Das sharing a poster of the film on his Instagram, featuring the beloved characters from the first film: Hashir, Alan, Ajin, and Vinayak. These characters, especially Hashir, received immense love from the audience for their memorable moments in Vaazha. The cinematography of the film was done by Aravind Pithussery while the editing was executed by Kannan Mohan.

The sequel will be directed by debutant director Suvin SA, while Vipin Das will remain involved as a producer and writer. It will be backed by the same production houses — Vipin Das, Harris Desom, PB Anish, and Adarsh Narayan of Icon Cinemas.
