Rakshit Shetty Allegedly Used Copyrighted Music Without Permission In Bachelor Party, Label Files FIR
Actor and director Rakshit Shetty is in legal trouble for alleged copyright violation.

Rakshit Shetty has landed in trouble after allegedly using a music label’s copyrighted songs without their permission in his film, Bachelor Party. The film was produced by Rakshit Shetty under Paramvah Studios and was released on January 26, 2024. The Bengaluru Police are currently investigating the case.

As per India Today, Naveen Kumar, a partner at MRT Music has accused Rakshit Shetty and his production house, Paramvah Studios of using songs from the movies Nyaya Ellide and Gaalimaathu without permission.

The report mentions that in January this year, Rakshit discussed the acquisition of rights to these songs with MRT Music. However, the negotiation was not successful. As per The Hindu, Naveen agreed to the usage of the songs after watching Bachelor Party.

This is not the first time that Rakshit has been involved in a copyright violation case. He was also involved in a four-year case with Lahari Velu, director of Lahari Music. Rakshit was accused of copyright violation when his film, Kirik Party was released in 2016.

Bachelor Party stars Diganth Manchale in the lead role, supported by a cast including Achyuth Kumar, Siri Ravikumar, Yogesh, and Balaji Manohar. Initially, Rishab Shetty was set to be part of the project, but due to other commitments, he opted out of the film. YouTuber and actress Achara Kirk, along with former Bigg Boss Kannada winner Shine Shetty and JP Thumminad also joined the cast.

The film was written and directed by Abhijit Mahesh. With this film, he made his directorial debut. Meanwhile, Aravind Kashyap, recognised for his work on 777 Charlie, Kantara, and Hostel Hudugaru Bekagiddare, handled the cinematography. With music composed by Arjun Ramu, the editing is credited to Abhishek M.

Rakshit Shetty shot to fame with films such as Kirik Party, 777 Charlie, Ulidavaru Kandanthe, and Avane Srimannarayana. The Kannada superstar was last seen in the 2023 film Sapta Saagaradaache Ello – Side B along with Rukmini Vasanth.

He will next be seen in Richard Anthony: Lord of the Sea. The film will be the sequel to his Ulidavaru Kandanthe. Rakshit Shetty will not only headline the project but will also be helming it as the director. Apart from this, Rakshit Shetty also has Thugs of Malgudi in his kitty.
