The event in West London hosted a massive Wolverine and Deadpool fan gathering on Thursday night to promote the latest Marvel Studios film. “Deadpool” himself along with the rest of the cast and crew, joined “Wolverine” on the red carpet. There was a special visitor who made a noticeable appearance with Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds. Reynolds attended the event with Peggy on his arm, who plays Dogpool in the superhero crossover. The dog was crowned the UK’s ugliest dog in 2023.
Reynolds shared some highlights from the event on his Instagram handle. The caption accompanying the photos read, “Whenever Mary Puppins is near, I hear “She’s Like The Wind.” Do you hear it too? And of course, the feint smell of a half lit Newport Menthol cigarette. Mary Puppins just hits different.”
The dog who plays Dogpool is named Peggy and she made her debut by licking Ryan Reynolds’ face in a Deadpool & Wolverine trailer.
The East Yorkshire-based Dogpool star is a hybrid between a Chinese Crested and a pug. She has very little hair, except for a little patch on her cheeks and ears. With her tongue hanging out the corners of her lips, she achieves her characteristic appearance.
Reynolds stated in a May interview with Empire Magazine that he intended to use her in the part because she is “like an animal manifestation of Wade Wilson.”
Wade/Deadpool is an unfortunate-looking man who underwent an experimental procedure that left him disfigured. Reynolds also uploaded a video of him introducing Peggy to the crowd while holding her. Peggy’s tongue was hanging out while she wore her red Dogpool bodysuit.
In the video, Reynolds stated, “Guys, this is Peggy. AKA Mary Poppins, AKA Dogpool. Get a good look. Her nipples are the size of children’s fingers, she won ‘Ugliest dog in Britain’ but we’re not telling her that.”
Reynolds said, planting a kiss on Peggy’s side of the head, “Because she is a 10 in our hearts, isn’t she?”
Goofy as ever, he went on to say that Peggy trained harder for the next Marvel film than Jackman.
Deadpool & Wolverine is slated to be released in theatres on July 26, 2024.
