At the Locarno Film Festival, Shah Rukh Khan shared the surprising origin of his signature pose, revealing that we have the legendary choreographer Saroj Khan to thank. The *Jawan* star opened up about the moment during a fan Q&A when someone asked how the iconic pose was invented. Shah Rukh explained that the pose came to life after he struggled with a dance step during a song choreographed by Saroj Khan.
Recalling the incident, Shah Rukh said, “I couldn’t get the choreography right and felt quite embarrassed. After practicing all night, I returned to the set ready to show Saroj ji that I could finally do the step. But when I showed her, she simply said, ‘No, we don’t need that. It doesn’t suit you. Just stand there and put your arms out.’” This simple directive led to the creation of his now-famous pose.
Over time, the gesture became a go-to move for Shah Rukh. He shared, “Whenever I faced a tricky choreography, I would suggest to the choreographer, ‘How about I just put my arms out?’ It became my signature move, and I started doing it more intensely with each performance. Eventually, it became a part of my identity.”
Shah Rukh humorously added, “I’m just fooling you all—there’s nothing special about it, it’s just arms out.”
The festival in Switzerland also saw Shah Rukh Khan being honored with the prestigious Pardo Alla Carriera Award, marking another milestone in his illustrious career.
