After Stree 2 hit a huge Rs 60 crore in India, fans of Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao started arguing over who deserved more credit for the film’s success. Things heated up when Aparshakti Khurana made a comment that caught everyone’s attention. In an interview with Zoom, Aparshakti hinted at the drama, saying, “If I comment on this, it will go far,” but it was his remark calling Shraddha’s credit a “PR Game” that really fueled the fire.
Co-star Abhishek Banerjee and director Amar Kaushik have now joined the conversation. In a new interview, Amar revealed he even had a video call with Aparshakti after the credit war exploded online.
In a new interview with Zoom, Amar Kaushik talked about the credit war and revealed that he spoke to Aparshakti about his comment. “We video-called each other when the controversy around the credits sparked online. We simply laughed about it.” The director also shared the cast of the film is extremely close knit. He said, “We are extremely close. Even when something goes wrong, we say it to each other to their face. There is no formality between us. It is completely fan-created controversy. When a film does well, the fans think it is because of their favourite star. This is good for our film’s business. Because of the controversy, more people are watching this film.”
He shared that he called Aparshakti after the statement, asking, ‘What was that?’ The actor said, ‘Paaji, I didn’t mean anything by it. You know me how I talk.’ He then said, ‘I always laugh when I say such things, this time, I just forgot to laugh and it became serious.’ Then, I was like, ‘But, what did you mean? What were you trying to say?’ He said, ‘I was just talking and the way she was asking questions, I just didn’t laugh.’ Aparshakti is very good at heart. When he is bothered about something, he will simply blurt it out. He won’t bottle it up. He was like, ‘I am just caught between the fan war’.”
Amar Kaushik, talking about the film’s success, stressed that credit should go to more than just the actors. He said, “There are more people associated with the project apart from the actors. There are DOPs, sound designer, music director. It is also Dinesh Vijan’s marketing and the film’s music that made the project bigger and better.” The director then said, “Please continue the credit war until the film reaches Rs 1000 crore at the box office.”
