All eyes were on Taylor Swift as she stepped out to attend the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards organised on Wednesday night. Reason? The singer was seen enthusiastically dancing and singing to Katy Perry’s chart-topping song Teenage Dream along with Suki Waterhouse at the prestigious ceremony. The video showcases Taylor Swift dressed in a sparkly UFO mini-dress as she made fans’ hearts flutter with her energetic dance performance during Katy Perry’s Video Vanguard Award performance. Shared by an X page named The Swift Society, the clip was captioned, “Taylor Swift singing along to Katy Perry.”

Pop fans know that Taylor Swift and Katy Perry had a roller-coaster relationship over the years. It all started when Swift revealed her 2014 song Bad Blood was about a major star, leading fans to speculate that it was for Katy Perry. In 2017, the Fireworks singer addressed the rift while speaking on The Late Late Show With James Corden as she claimed that the feud was started by Swift. Later, sources told Page Six that both the artists had dated John Mayer during different periods, which turned into a reason for the clash. Reports suggest that the duo had sorted things out eventually by sharing a picture on Instagram which featured a tray of cookies with “peace at last” written on it.
Coming back to the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards, Taylor Swift dominated the award show Wednesday night. She won seven awards, thereby becoming the most recognised solo artist in VMA history. The victory only adds to the achievement as the Bad Blood singer was already the most-nominated artist at the award ceremony. As Swift won her 30th award, she surpassed Beyoncé’s record set as a solo artist. FYI, Beyoncé won 25 Video Music Awards solo, two with Jay-Z and the remaining ones with Destiny’s Child.
