Tovino Thomas Reveals Being Approached By Hema Commission For THIS Reason: 'Called Me To Understand...'
Tovino Thomas says even though he hasn't read the Hema Committee report completely, the accused must be punished.

Malayalam actor Tovino Thomas has revealed that he was also approached by Hema Commission. In a recent interview, Thomas was asked about the shocking revelations made by the report when he shared that even he was called by the team to enquire about the films in worked in. He further mentioned that even though he hadn’t read the report completely, the accused must be punished.

“I also spoke to Hema Commission, they had called me also to understand the situation in the movies I have worked. Now the report has come out and it’s 255 pages I think. It’s not in common man’s language, so not everyone could read it and understand it. Even I couldn’t grasp it completely. but if someone has done something wrong they should get the deserved punishment,” Tovino Thomas told NDTV.

Revelations by Justice Hema Committee report have left the entire nation shocked. In 2017, a Malayalam actress actress was sexually assaulted following which the government formed a three-member commission. While it was headed by Justice K Hema (retired), former bureaucrat KB Valsalakumari and veteran actress Sharada were the other two team members. The report, which was submitted to the government in 2019, was made available to the public earlier this week. The report investigates several aspects of the Malayalam film industry including sexual harassment, lack of basic facilities like women’s toilets and changing rooms, pay disparity and discrimination on the basis of gender.

In a recent exclusive interaction with News18 Showsha, Tanushree Dutta, who spearheaded the #MeToo movement in 2018 when she accused Nana Patekar of sexual misconduct on the sets of Horn Ok Pleassss, also reacted to the report. “These committees and reports, I don’t understand them. I think they’re useless. It took them seven years to make a report on what happened in 2017?” she said.

“What’s the point of this new report anyway? All they had to do was arrest the accused and enforce a strong law and order system. I remember hearing about the Vishakha Committee, which came up with so many guidelines and prepared pages and pages of reports, but what happened after that? The names of the committees just keep changing,” the actress added.
