Director Vikramaditya Motwane recently made a shocking revelation about his film AK vs Ak which starred Anil Kapoor and Anurag Kashyap. He said that the film was originally written for Aamir Khan. Motwane also shared that Saif Ali Khan was also approached but turned down the role. AK vs AK was released on Netflix in 2020
Talking to The Comment Section, Motwane revealed that AK vs AK underwent several casting changes. “It was always AK vs AK, so we had to go and cast an actor who’d fit it. We got this idea in 2014 by Avinash (Sampath, c0-writer) and all of us were excited. He had sent it as AK vs AK, which was supposed to be Anurag Kashyap vs Aamir Khan and I immediately thought Aamir toh ye karne wala nahi hai so let’s not go there.”
“Then we discussed which AKs we could go to. Then the AK got dropped and we went to meet Saif for the same, he didn’t do it. Then we shot with Shahid in Mumbai for the film, which was great, fantastic. I wish that would have stayed,” he added.
In the same interview, the director revealed that Anurag Kashyap mentioned Anil Kapoor’s name.
Vikramaditya Motwane started directing with the 2010 film Udaan and later made movies like Lootera, Trapped, Bhavesh Joshi Superhero, and Sacred Games. He also directed Ak vs Ak, the recent film Jubilee, and is working on a documentary called Indi(r)a’s Emergency.
His next is with Ananya Panday. It is a cyber thriller tentatively titled Control. The film is set to be a “screen life thriller” and unfolds entirely on a computer screen. “This is the first time I am saying it publicly, but she has done a fabulous job in the film. She is perfectly cast in it. The film is about an influencer and her boyfriend and what actually happens. It has got AI, it’s futuristic, it is very cool, it’s a great script. It is in the screen life format, of how Searching and Missing films were. So within that format, we have had our own little fun,” the filmmaker added.
