Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s 12th Fail has not only impressed audiences but has also become one of the biggest hits of Vikrant Massey’s career. The film captivated viewers and drew them into theatres like no other recent release. With the film’s success sparking curiosity about a potential sequel, Vikrant Massey recently addressed the possibility of 12th Fail 2 in an interview.
In a chat with India Today, Vikrant Massey addressed whether he’s making deliberate choices to avoid being stereotyped. “Now, I’m getting a lot of calls, people are saying let’s do another 12th Fail, but I’m making a conscious shift to pick something different. When something works, people want more of it, which is why Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba is being made. But here, it is applicable because we left off the first part in a way that there was a potential to explore what happens in their lives beyond this,” he said.
Vikrant continued, “If you ask me, I don’t see a 12th Fail sequel happening. Do people want it? Yes. But is it the right thing? That is a collective decision that we all need to make. From my experience, I know that when a film is successful, people want to see more of the same.”
12th Fail, directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, is based on the real-life stories of IPS Officer Manoj Kumar Sharma and IRS Officer Shraddha Joshi. Vikrant Massey portrayed the character of Manoj Sharma, while Medha Shankar played Shraddha Joshi. The film also features Anshuman Pushkar and Anant Joshi.
On the professional front, Vikrant will next appear in Jayprad Desai’s upcoming crime drama Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba. The film is a sequel to Haseen Dillruba which was released in 2021. It also features Taapsee Pannu and Sunny Kaushal in the lead roles. The film is set to release on Netflix on August 9. Vikrant Massey will also star in Ranjan Chandel’s upcoming thriller film The Sabarmati Report alongside Raashi Khanna and Ridhi Dogra.
