Genelia D’Souza recently dished on her relationship with Riteish Deshmukh and had some fun tidbits to share. She gushed about Riteish being the perfect partner, with no cultural clashes between them, but she also spoke about about a prank he pulled that left her fuming. Apparently, while they were dating, Riteish pulled a sneaky April Fool’s Day prank, texting her, “We’re done,” before crashing for the night! Genelia, who read the message at 2:30 a.m., spent the entire night stressing, thinking their relationship had gone south.
She recalled, “He sent me this at around 1 in the night, and has fallen asleep. I have read it at 2:30 in the morning, and I am depressed. ‘What went wrong? What is this cheek and audacity?’”
By the time he woke up all fresh and happy, clueless about the chaos he’d caused, she was livid.
Genelia continued, “I have made myself miserable till 9 in the morning. He has woken up, not remembering that he’s done that. So, he’s woken up and called me, ‘Hi, what’s up?’ And I’m like fully, ‘I don’t think we should talk, I don’t want to talk to you’. He said, ‘Why, what went wrong?’ And I said, ‘What went wrong! Are you actually behaving like nothing went wrong?’” When she confronted him, he casually reminded her that it was all a joke for April Fool’s Day, to which she said, “I said, ‘Who jokes about something like that?’”
Genelia mentioned that Riteish made up for the prank and called him the perfect husband. She shared how he has great respect for women, especially her, saying, “He has immense respect towards women, and towards his wife. Every time I have to shoot, he’s at home, playing the homemaker. He does it with dignity, and with absolute acceptance. He does it wholeheartedly, and doesn’t make it seem like he’s doing my job. He’s a partner who does everything, and I really lucked out.”
Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D’Souza’s met in 2002 on the set of their debut film Tujhe Meri Kasam and instantly clicked. Their bond grew over time, with a beautiful friendship turning into a love that they kept under wraps for nearly a decade. In 2012, they finally tied the knot in a grand wedding, combining both Maharashtrian and Christian traditions.
