Nandamuri Balakrishna commands immense respect in South Indian cinema, known for his intriguing screen presence that guarantees blockbuster projects, attracting actors vying to share the screen with him. However, a significant actress turned down an opportunity to collaborate with the South star. This actress is none other than Sakshi Shivanand, who declined a role in the film Krishna Babu, leading the makers to approach Raasi for the part. Unfortunately, upon its release in 1999, the film failed to resonate with audiences and performed poorly at the box office.
Directed by Muthyala Subbaiah, Krishna Babu starred Nandamuri Balakrishna in the lead role, alongside Meena, Raasi, Abbas, Chandra Mohan and others. Produced by Chanti Addala and V Srinivasa Reddy under the banner of Srinivasa Arts, the film’s music was composed by Koti.
Sakshi Shivanand, recognised for her roles in successful Bollywood and South Indian films, has appeared in notable projects such as Aapko Pehle Bhi Kahin Dekha Hai, Master, Seetharamaraju and Simharasi. Her last known film appearance was in the Kannada film Paramashiva, directed by Mahesh Babu and released in 2014.
Meanwhile, Nandamuri Balakrishna’s recent outing was in Bhagavanth Kesari, which premiered on October 19, 2023, during the festival of Dussehra. Directed by Anil Ravipudi, the film also featured Sreeleela, Kajal Aggarwal and Arjun Rampal in prominent roles. Produced by Sahu Garapati and Harish Peddi under the banner of Shine Screens, with music by Thaman S and cinematography by C Ramprasad, Bhagavanth Kesari was made on a budget of Rs 100 crore and grossed Rs 130 crore at the box office.
Nandamuri Balakrishna continues to deliver successful projects, with Bhagavanth Kesari being his latest triumph at the box office, showcasing his enduring appeal and prowess in the world of cinema.
