‘Why Can't A Tamilian Rule The Country?’ Kamal Haasan At Indian 2 Event
Kamal Haasan was seen at the audio launch with Rakul Preet Singh, Kajal Agarwal, Anirudh Ravichander and S Shankar, among other crew members.

Actor-politician Kamal Haasan delivered a powerful speech at the audio launch event of Indian 2 in Chennai recently. Haasan attended the launch with Rakul Preet Singh, Kajal Agarwal, Anirudh Ravichander and S Shankar, among other crew members.

He said that divide and rule was a saying of the British era and since they left India, it was time for their ideas to go. He added that the country should strive for unity.

“I am a Tamilian and an Indian; that’s my identity and yours too. That’s the concept behind the sequels. Divide and rule is a British concept. It worked back then because they had a home to go back to. It will no longer work. I wonder where those trying to do the same today would go,” Haasan said.

The actor shared his dream of seeing Tamil politicians rule the country. “Yathum oore, yavarum kelir. (Every city is your city; everyone is your kin.) We are known for giving lives to those who have come to our state. Why shouldn’t there be a day when a Tamilian rules the country? This is my country and we must safeguard the unity within it.”

Meanwhile, Kamal Haasan-starrer Indian 2 is all set to hit the theatres on July 12. The film features Siddharth, Rakul Preet Singh, Kajal Aggarwal, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Kalidas Jayaram, Samuthirakani, Bobby Simha, George Marion and others in key roles. It is produced by Lyca Productions, with music by Anirudh Ravichander.

The film will be released in two parts, i.e., Indian 2 and Indian 3. Fans are eagerly waiting to watch the film. Indian 3 is expected to be released early next year.
