Jennifer Lopez’s recent trip to the Toronto International Film Festival couldn’t have been more perfectly timed. Just days after making her first public appearance since filing for divorce from Ben Affleck, the 55-year-old actress and producer graced the premiere of Unstoppable. According to a source, Lopez “was happy to be in the spotlight again because of work. She’s so over all the attention on her personal life.”
“The film festival truly uplifted her. She was excited to focus on work again,” People’s source added.
Lopez, who produced Unstoppable, also stars in it as Judy, the mother of real-life wrestler Anthony Robles. Robles, born with one leg, overcame the odds to win a national championship in 2011 while competing at Arizona State University. For the red carpet event on Friday, September 6, Lopez stunned in a shimmering, floor-length silver Tamara Ralph gown, complemented by a metallic Judith Leiber clutch, Dolce and Gabbana heels and Hassanzadeh jewellery.

Though Ben Affleck, 52, and his long-time friend Matt Damon, both co-founders of Artists Equity and fellow producers of the film, were also involved, Affleck reportedly did not attend the premiere.
A source, who spoke with PEOPLE revealed that Lopez “is very close with Matt Damon” and enjoyed catching up with him at the event.
“She seems much happier than she was just a few weeks ago. She’s still searching for a new home for herself and her kids. She’s not in a hurry, though, and is taking her time,” the source added.
Meanwhile, Affleck was reportedly spotted in Los Angeles on the day of the premiere, dressed sharply in a suit and sunglasses as he headed to work. Later that day, he was seen spending time with his children Samuel, 12 and Seraphina, 15. He shares them, along with his 18-year-old daughter Violet, with ex-wife Jennifer Garner.
In a candid chat with PEOPLE a day after the premiere, Lopez described her latest role as “very cathartic.”
“Women who are moms, who get into relationships, struggle with them, and find themselves in dynamics that aren’t healthy, but they still care and love the person,” she explained. “That’s the kind of complicated dynamic in life that I understand really well,” the actress added.
Lopez filed for divorce from Affleck in August, marking the end of their two-year marriage. The pair, who got married in July 2022 after a year of dating, had been surrounded by breakup rumours for months before sources confirmed their split.
