Anil Kapoor trended big time after pictures of his doppelganger John Effer went viral. Now, during an interaction with the Instagram page, Humans of Bombay, Effer opened up about his love for the seasoned actor and the Hindi film industry. The US resident also expressed his desire to work in Bollywood and meet the veteran actor at least once in his lifetime. “Looking at Anil Kapoor’s picture for the 1st time, I was taken aback; our resemblance was uncanny!” he said.
John Effer, who is a bodybuilder by profession, claims though he lives in the US, he is quite familiar with Bollywood, thanks to his parents’ love for different cultures. He was introduced to Hindi films at a young age and he grew up watching movies by SRK and Hrithik Roshan. Effer also revealed that his favourite Hrithik Roshan film is ‘Kaho Na…Pyaar Hai.’
The bodybuilder was so elated with his resemblance to Anil Kapoor that he posted an edited photo collage of himself and the veteran actor.
“I decided to post a picture of Anil Kapoor & myself together on my social media to get a sense of what the public thinks! My Instagram account didn’t stop buzzing with notifications; people commented— ‘Bodybuilder Anil Kapoor!’ Some people mistook me for being the real Anil Kapoor & praised me for my acting! I was overwhelmed by the messages I received but frankly, I find it unimaginable to fathom what Anil Kapoor goes through on a daily basis with the spotlight on him every second. But I get why he is so beloved; his cool swagger & style is such a pleasure to watch on screen,” Effer was quoted as saying.
Inspired by the buzz, the bodybuilder began watching Kapoor’s films, his favourite of them all is the 1997 release Virasat. Meanwhile, the song ‘1 2 ka 4, 4 2 ka 1, my name is Lakhan’ has now become one of his go-to celebratory numbers. “My girlfriend & I have a ball dancing to that song!” explained John Effer.
The bodybuilder feels that it would be a dream for him to get an acting opportunity in Bollywood. While he is unsure of getting a chance to meet the veteran actor, Effer wants to live a ‘jhakaas’ life like Anil Kapoor.
