Animal: Mahesh Bhatt Lauds Ranbir Kapoor's Performance, Calls Film An ‘Unapologetic Cinematic Journey’
Lauding director Sandeep Reddy Vanga's daring approach, Mahesh Bhatt recently shared that Animal is a "cinematic rarity and boldly defies mainstream norms."

Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Triptii Dimri, Bobby Deol, and Anil Kapoor starrer Animal has created waves all over the country. Even almost a month after its release the buzz around the film is quite strong. Now, filmmaker and Ranbir Kapoor’s father-in-law Mahesh Bhatt has also appreciated the actor’s performance in the movie.

Lauding director Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s daring approach, Mahesh Bhatt recently shared that the film is a “cinematic rarity and boldly defies mainstream norms.”

Praising Ranbir’s performance in the film, Mahesh Bhatt said, “In this unique Bollywood creature, Ranbir Kapoor’s performance doesn’t just add depth; it makes the animal live, throb, and pulse with the primal beat of life. Together, Vanga’s audacious filmmaking and Kapoor’s vitality offer an unprecedented and unapologetic cinematic journey.”

Released on December 1, Animal revolves around a man and his toxic relationship with his father. The film shows Vijay (played by Ranbir) as an anti-hero who would go to any lengths to protect his father, including gun down 200 people with machine gun. However, despite his efforts, he struggles to get a seal of approval from his emotionally unavailable father (played by Anil Kapoor). The film has earned over Rs 500 crore at the Indian box office.

Even though Animal has been ruling the box office, the film has also been accused of glorifying misogyny and toxic masculinity by many. In a recent interview, Sandeep Reddy Vanga lashed out at those calling his film ‘misogynistic’ and shared that it is not right to use such terms for either of his movies, Animal or Kabir Singh.

“Misogyny is disrespect to women. This is the actual definition, right? So no. Even Kabir Singh, even Animal, even me as a person. I always feel my production house name is Bhadrakali Pictures and I don’t know why people think…not too many people, only these 15-20 jokers. But it’s a wrong word to use on Kabir Singh, Animal,” Vanga told Galatta Plus.
