Bella Ramsey And Ariana DeBose Share A Hug Post Critics Choice Joke At The Emmys
After the Bella Ramsey and Ariana DeBose Critics Choice joke controversy, it seems like the two have reconciled.

The recently held Emmy Awards 2024 has given us a lot to talk about. From the most glamorous dresses and most applauded awards to the gossip-worthy celeb moments, the award show evening had it all. One of the most talked about incidents that grabbed headlines was the Bella Ramsey and Ariana DeBose joke controversy. However, now it does look like the two have reconciled and put aside their differences. The tiff between the two was created on the Emmys 2024 stage, following a joke made by Ramsey during the Critics Choice Awards about DeBose’s dual role as an actor and singer.

The two were later spotted with each other at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Monday night, where a shared photo on social media captured the 20-year-old Ramsey and the 32-year-old DeBose embracing during the awards ceremony.

Talking about the Critics Choice joke that created an unpleasant moment for the two, according to Page Six, it was Ramsey’s quip while presenting the Best Song award at the Critics Choice Awards.

Playfully listing the ‘famous voices’ in the category – Billie Eilish, Lenny Kravitz, and Dua Lipa – Ramsey added, ‘And there are the actors who also think that they are singers – Jack Black, Ariana DeBose, Ryan Gosling.’

The camera then caught DeBose’s less-than-amused expression, just a moment before Gosling’s eventual win for the track “I’m Just Ken.”

Post-ceremony, DeBose, who was nominated for the song This Wish from Disney’s animated movie of the same title, also took to Instagram to convey her true sentiments about Ramsey’s joke, bluntly stating, “No, I didn’t find it funny. Lol,” as per Page Six.

This prompted a defense from fans of the West Side Story star, who criticised Ramsey’s joke for its perceived disrespect towards DeBose’s distinguished career – an Academy Award for 2021’s West Side Story and a Tony Award nomination from her Broadway tenure.

Actor-singer Anthony Ramos, Last of Us star Bella Ramsey’s fellow presenter at the Emmy awards, also shares a history with DeBose, having performed together in the original Broadway cast of Hamilton.

Examining the nominated songs, including DeBose’s This Wish and Gosling’s I’m Just Ken, both competed for the Best Song award against the Barbie soundtrack What Was I Made For? by Billie Eilish and Dua Lipa’s Dance the Night.
