Kalki Koechlin shared a screenshot of deleting her account on platform X (formerly Twitter), citing the spread of disinformation and hate related to the Israel-Hamas conflict as the main reason. The Goldfish actor took to Instagram to share a poignant screenshot before deleting the app from her phone. She shared, “Had to do this today. The hate and disinformation, the doom scrolling, the helplessness. But what crossed the line for me, what made me draw a boundary was the denial or the justification of Palestinian children murdered in the thousands or the denial or glorification of Israeli women being raped, tortured, and murdered, I have had enough.”

Kalki also shared a list of resources that helped her gain more perspective on the complex issue. This move garnered significant attention and support from internet users, including fellow actor Sayani Gupta, known for her role in the Amazon Prime web series Four More Shots Please! She wrote,” Oh man. Absolutely. There’s no nuance anymore! No sense of what’s just. It’s all about polarization. This or that. Choose a side and hate the other. Also, I got off Twitter maybe almost two years ago. Best cleanse ever!”
Many users praised Kalki for speaking out on the Israel-Palestine issue, especially when other figures in the Indian film industry chose to remain silent. A user commented, “Good to see that someone from Bollywood has some nerves to speak the truth. Love you for this,” while another thanked her “for being one of the only few celebrities from Bollywood to speak out for the cause of Palestine.”
The Israel-Hamas conflict has taken a devastating toll. Israeli authorities report 1,200 casualties, mostly civilians, with nearly 240 individuals taken hostage. Meanwhile, in Gaza, heavy bombardments and a ground offensive by Israel have resulted in over 15,500 casualties, with approximately 70% being women and children, according to the Hamas-run health ministry.
On the professional front, Kalki Koechlin was last seen in Goldfish alongside Deepti Naval. In the film, Kalki portrayed the character of Anamika, a loving daughter grappling with financial challenges, while Deepti portrayed her mother, who is depicted as suffering from dementia. The actress is set to grace the silver screen once again in R Arvind’s upcoming film, Emma And Angel. She will also be seen in Raman Bharadwaj’s upcoming drama film Scholarship, alongside Konkona Sen Sharma.
