The fifteenth season of the famous reality show Kaun Banega Crorepati (Who Wants to be a Millionaire?) is being broadcast these days. The audience has even got their first millionaire of the season, Jaskaran Singh. Let us take a look at the past contestants who managed to leave the show as crorepatis.
Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC), hosted by Amitabh Bachchan, started in 2000 and soon became one of the most popular TV shows in India. Some were fortunate to become crorepatis through the show. Here are the lucky winners, who ended up as crorepatis.
In 2000, the prize maximum prize money limit was Rs 1 crore. Then in the following second and third seasons, it was increased to Rs 2 crore. By the fourth and seventh seasons, it was increased to Rs 5 crore and Rs 7 crore respectively. To celebrate the 75th Independence Day last year, the prize money was increased to Rs 7.5 crore.
The contestants who have won the highest amount till now are the Narula Brothers, who won the prize money of Rs 7 crore in the eighth season of the show. Achin and Sarthak Narula are the only contestants who have managed to win Rs 7 crore on Kaun Banega Crorepati to date. According to reports. they used the prize money to treat their mother who was suffering from cancer and to start a business.
Bihar’s Sushil Kumar managed to win the prize money of Rs 5 crore in the fifth season of the show. As per reports, he used the money to start a cab business and buy land.
In the sixth season of the show, Sunmeet Kaur Sawhney, a tuition teacher, became the first woman to win Rs 5 crore. She reportedly donated some of the winning money and invested some in her family business.
The seventh season of the show had two winners who won Rs 1 crore each. They were Taj Mohammad Rangrez and Firoj Fatima. Fatima used the money to pay off a loan which was taken for her father’s treatment, and for her studies as well.
