Suniel Shetty Says Boycott Bollywood Trend Makes No Sense: 'Bhagwan Par Bhi To Ungli Uthti Hai'
Suniel Shetty recently weighed in on the boycott Bollywood trend in an interview.

Suniel Shetty recently spoke up about the Boycott Bollywood trend which had become very prevalent back in 2022. The trend was started by a section of social media users every time a big budget film like Brahmastra, Laal Singh Chaddha, was about to hit the theatres. Calling it a bad phase, the actor shared it didn’t even make sense back then, because those trolls don’t exist anymore.

In an interview with ANI, Suniel shared, “I think it was just a phase, a movement that came and went. Lots of things were happening with Bollywood and ‘#Boycott Bollywood’ was a viral trend, a big movement that was causing further damage to what was already happening in our industry at the time.”

Recollecting his meeting with Yogi Adityanath, he added, “But when I spoke to Yogi-ji (Yogi Adityanath), I was honest. The first thing that I told him was, ‘bhagwan par bhi to ungli uth ti hai, hum to insaan hain (some even point fingers at the Almighty, we are only human). He took it very positively.”

The actor continued, “Where are all these trolls now? Does the hashtag exist anymore? Just 10 people here and there, putting out #Boycott Bollywood posts on social media doesn’t make any sense anymore. It didn’t even make any sense back in the day when it became a viral trend. I believe it was just a phase that we rode out. We just went through a bad patch.

Earler in January this year, Suniel had met with the UP Chief Minister and opened up about the film indutry’s downfall, problems and all things in between. He even urged CM Adityanath to help them get rid of the viral trend. The trend had caused serious problems and affected the box office business of some of the biggest films which released last year.

Meanwhile on the work front, Suniel Shetty has an exciting lineup of projects in the pipeline. He is set to grace the screen in director Swaroop Raj Medara’s upcoming family drama Udd Jaa Nanhe Dil, alongside Gaurav Kamble and Surendra Pal. Additionally, he will feature in the upcoming action film Code AI. Furthermore, Shetty is also part of projects such as Hera Pheri 3, Awara Pagal Deewana 2, Welcome to the Jungle, Shootout at Byculla, and more.
