'Been Watching Him Sweep a Lot..': Kuldeep Yadav Reveals His Homework Behind Saud Shakeel's Dismissal
Kuldeep Yadav revealed how he had done his homework against the likes of Mohammad Rizwan and Saud Shakeel, the latter was hunted as soon as he played the sweep shot

Kuldeep Yadav picked up two crucial wickets to jolt the Pakistan middle order as Babar Azam and Co. folded for a paltry 191 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday, October 14. Speaking at the mid-innings break, Kuldeep revealed how he had done his homework against Saud Shakeel before dismissing the Pakistan batter during the ICC ODI World Cup clash.

Pakistan had lost their captain Babar Azam after he scored a fifty and they were in a precarious position at 162/4 when Kuldeep dismissed Shakeel and Iftikhar Ahmed in the space of five balls to expose the middle order.

The Green Army were at 155/2 at one stage in their innings after being invited to bat first. Babar and Mohammad Rizwan stitched together a partnership of 82 runs but as soon as the captain was dismissed by Mohammed Siraj, it was the start of a collapse which would see Pakistan lose 8 wickets for 36 runs.

Kuldeep played a big role in that when he dismissed Shakeel LBW before casting Iftikhar courtesy of some luck as the ball deflected from the latter’s glove, and rattled the stumps.

The Indian spinner revealed he was planning to get the wicket of Rizwan but the latter didn’t sweep too much against Kuldeep, however, Shakeel did bring out the sweep and the spin wizard was ready for it.

“Difficult wicket to bowl on to be honest, it’s on the slower side. They (Pakistan) were not trying too much, so kept it wicket to wicket varying my pace. First seven overs we didn’t give too much width, they were not trying to do much,” Kuldeep told the broadcasters.

“Rizwan didn’t sweep me, I was hoping to make him play a bad shot. I have been watching him (Shakeel) sweep a lot or the paddle, so I was trying to keep it wicket to wicket. Luckily I got him,” he added.

Five Indian bowlers picked up two wickets each, including Kuldeep Yadav, while Shardul Thakur was the only bowler who failed to open his account as Pakistan were bowled out for 191.
