'Brilliant Team Effort': Cheteshwar Pujara After Sussex's Triumph in Thriller Against Leicestershire

While India will look to win the Asia Cup 2023 and the ICC ODI World Cup at home, Cheteshwar Pujara is not part of the white-ball scene has been cheering for his county side Sussex. Following his omission from the Indian Test Team, the veteran returned back to form with his stint in the County Championship.
Pujara has also been handed the responsibility to lead Sussex in the County Championship Division Two 2023. And to his credit, the veteran batter has led the side well, keeping them in the top 3 teams on the points table. Sussex’s latest victory game came against Leicestershire, in a thrilling encounter that went down to the wire. Sussex edged past them on the back of an outstanding performance by Pujara’s countryman and Indian pacer Jaydev Unadkat.

Pujara tweeted about the match, showcasing his joy and praising his team. “Happy to be standing on the winning side of this thrilling match! Brilliant team effort for a top-notch win,” Pujara wrote.

The 4-day game saw both teams fight for the victory resulting in a game that was won by a margin of just 15 runs. Unadkat delivered an impressive performance and dismissed Chris Wright who appeared to be taking the match away from Sussex.
The Indian pacer was right on point with his line and length throughout the match, giving it his all for the team’s victory. He picked up 9 wickets in the match with 6 scalps in the second innings. Alongside Unadkat, Aristides Karvelas was the one who gave the batters some problems picking up 6 wickets in the match.

Colin Ackermann and Umar Amin tried saving the match for Leicestershire and batted brilliantly. Ackermann scored an outstanding century, scoring 136 runs in the second innings of the match. He took the bowlers on remand and played a bit aggressively as compared to Amin who worked his way in the middle and played a gritty knock. He missed out on a well-deserved century and got dismissed on 94 by Jack Carson. Carson turned out to be the game-changer for Sussex as he dismissed both Ackermann and Amin who were batting dangerously.
Cheteshwar Pujara has had an amazing stint in the County Championship. He has scored 649 runs with an average of 54.08 and 3 centuries under his belt. He is eyeing a comeback to the Indian squad and will be looking to get more runs to his name and take Sussex over the line this season.
