Runner-ups of last season Delhi Capitals have strengthened their squad to make it up for the heartbreaking loss in the final of the inaugural season. The Delhi-based franchise retained the core team ahead of the auction as they didn’t have too much in the auction ceremony. With a total of 15 players, including 5 foreigners, they decided to retain the core team after their impressive show in WPL 2023.
Wicketkeeper-batter Aparna Mondal, opener Jasia Akhter, and American fast-bowling all-rounder Tara Norris have been released from the squad ahead of the auction.
Meanwhile, Meg Lanning (C), Marizanne Kapp, Jemimah Rodrigues and Shafali Verma were a few of the key stars who were retained by the team.
Delhi entered the auction with a purse of INR 2.25 crore with three slots to fill and they used the money effectively.
