I Don't See Any Reason Why Rohit Sharma And Virat Kohli Shouldn't be in 2024 T20 World Cup: AB de Villiers
Looking at their current form and experience, AB de Villiers suggested that the Indian team needs Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma to play next year's T20 World Cup.

South Africa batting legend AB de Villiers feels that India need senior stars Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the next T20 World Cup as the two hold crucial positions in the Indian line-up. Rohit and Virat have not played a T20I since last year’s T20I World Cup to focus on the ODI format’s showpiece event. The two have not released any statements regarding their T20I future but the selection committee has been giving chances to the youngsters to get them ready for the next year’s showpiece event.

Kohli (4008) and Rohit (3853) are the top two run-getters in the shortest format of the game and they were also in incredible form in the recently concluded ODI World Cup.

Looking at their current form and experience, De Villiers suggested that the Indian team needs the two players to play next year’s T20 World Cup.

“It is just one year away (T20 World Cup) so I don’t see any reason why they (Rohit and Virat) shouldn’t be there. You need experience in World Cups and I don’t think you get any better experience than the two of them. Rohit batted very well at the top of the order in the World Cup and that’s exactly what you want in T20 cricket. Virat is the glue of that middle order,” AB de Villiers said on his YouTube channel.

Meanwhile, India missed out on the ODI World Cup trophy after losing the final to Australia. The home team played dominant cricket in their journey to the final but crumbled under pressure in the all-important clash at Narendra Modi Stadium.

De Villiers said he can relate to what Rohit and Kohli are going through at the moment after missing the chance to win the World Cup as he went through the same in 2015.

“I can understand how Rohit and Virat must be feeling after missing out on the World Cup. I have gone through that feeling when we lost the 2015 World Cup semifinal. I don’t even know whether I am over it now. It’s almost like you have taken a feel of a trophy but then it’s taken away from you. So yes, it is tough to recover quickly from that knock,” he added.
