Former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq has revealed that once veteran India spinner Harbhajan Singh was very much impressed with Maulana Tariq Jameel and wanted to follow his words. Several former Indian cricket team players shared good bonds with former Pakistan stars as they played a lot of cricket against each other in bilateral cricket unlike now. It was 2006 when India last toured Pakistan to play cricket as post that the political tensions between the two nations led to no bilateral series but the two teams played each other in the ACC and ICC tournaments.
Inzmam, who shared a good camaraderie with a lot of Indian cricketers, shared an anecdote from the past in a video which has gone viral on social media, where he made some revelation about Harbhajan getting impressed with a Maulana’s words.
“We had a room where prayers were conducted. Maulana Tariq Jameel used to visit us in the evening and lead us into a namaz. After a few days, Irfan Pathan, Mohammad Kaif and Zaheer Khan also started coming. Four other Indian cricketers sat and watched us,” he said.
“Harbhajan, who was unaware that Tariq Jameel was a maulana, said that ‘I am impressed with this man and want to follow his words’.

Harbhajan said, “Tumhe dekhke ruk jaata hu. (I stop after seeing you)” I responded, “Mujhe dekhke kyu ruk jaate ho? (why do you stop after seeing me),” Inzamam claimed.
Meanwhile, Inzamam, recently, resigned from the post of Pakistan cricket team chief selector amidst conflict of interest chatter and Babar Azam and Co.’s horrible performance in the ongoing ODI World Cup in India.
The PCB has also accepted his resignation last week and released a statement.
“Mr Inzamam-ul-Haq voluntarily stepped down from his position on 30 October 2023 in order to offer the PCB the opportunity to conduct a transparent inquiry about the conflict of interest allegations.
A five-member fact-finding committee has been formed by the board to investigate allegations regarding conflict of interest reported in the media about the team selection process. The findings of this inquiry will be submitted to the PCB Management promptly,” the PCB stated.
