Met on FB, Did Parliament Recce in March: How Six Accused Planned Security Scare 1.5 Years Ago
Manoranjan, one of the accused who deployed the canister in Lok Sabha, visited Parliament in March during the Budget session to conduct the reconnaissance of the building on a visitor’s pass. All six met on Facebook through Bhagat Singh Fan Club page

The key accused of the Wednesday’s Parliament security breach, who jumped from the visitor’s gallery to the Lok Sabha chamber, had met the other accused, who protested outside the premises, on Facebook through ‘Bhagat Singh Fan Club’ page.

Sagar Sharma and Manoranjan D jumped the visitor’s gallery into the chamber of the Lok Sabha and deployed canisters containing yellow smoke Wednesday afternoon. The incident took place during the anniversary of 2001 Parliament attack.

According to the intelligence inputs, Sagar Sharma, Manoranjan D, Neelam Azad, Amol Shinde and Lalit Jha met for the first time around 18 months ago in Mysore in order to raise social causes through “some means”.

They again met about nine months ago, and decided to protest outside Parliament, the sources said. Manoranjan visited Parliament in March during the Budget session to do the reconnaissance of the building on a visitor’s pass.

In July, Sagar Sharma, an e-rickshaw driver, came to Parliament in New Delhi and went back to Lucknow without entering in building.

On the night of December 10, Sharma, a resident of Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh, arrived at New Delhi Railway Station. After an hour, Shinde, from Maharashtra, Neelam Azad, from Hisar, Haryana, met Sharma at New Delhi Metro Station. Lalit Jha, from Bihar, joined them later in the night, while Manoranjan came to Delhi via a flight from Mysore on December 11 morning.

Together, they left for Vicky Jain’s (Manoranjan’s friend) house in Gurgaon where they stayed till December 13, arranging visitors’ passes for Parliament where they intended to protest on December 14. But they received only two passes after which they decided that only Sharma and Manoranjan will go inside Parliament, cancelling the earlier plan of all six entering the premises.

Sources say Sharma collected the Parliament passes from another Sagar (PA of MP) at 9 am on December 14 from 18 Mahadev Road. He then left for Sadar Bazaar around 10 am and bought two Indian flags, and reached India Gate where he met the rest of the group.

They all held a meeting at India Gate for about half an hour where it was decided that Sagar and Manoranjan will enter the Parliament building.

Sources say Shinde distributed the canisters, which he brought from his hometown in Maharashtra, to Sharma and Manoranjan at India Gate.

Around 12 pm, Sharma and Manoranjan entered the Parliament building and jumped into the House chamber an hour later, and threw the canisters. They were arrested the same day later along with Neelam, Shinde, and Vicky Sharma. Lalit Jha, however, ran away carrying the mobile phones of all accused after shooting the videos of Neelam and Shinde deploying the canisters.

It is learnt that Sharma was also hiding a few pamphlets in his shoes, and was supposed to throw them in the House after deploying the canisters.

Sharma, Shinde, Jha and Manoranjan had met in Gurgaon earlier. Sharma used to call Manoranjan twice or thrice a week, the sources added.
