Best wishes continue to pour in for Team India as it gears up for the ICC World Cup 2023 Final, against Australia on Sunday. The men in blue defeated New Zealand by 70 runs in the semis, storming into the grand finale of the showpiece event. The Aussies, on the other hand, outsmarted South Africa and will be eyeing a record sixth title.
Former India all-rounder and 1983 World Cup winner Mohinder Amarnath wished Rohit Sharma & Co the very best for the big final, hoping that they lift the trophy again and end the decade-long drought of ICC titles. Speaking with Cricketnext, he said the players know what has to be done on Sunday when they walk out at the Narendra Modi Stadium to face Australia in the final.

“I don’t think they need to be told anything because they are professionals and have been around for quite a long time now. They have been through all ups and downs, so I’m sure they know what they are supposed to do and they’ll play to the best of their abilities and make sure that India win again," Mohinder Amarnath told Cricketnext.
‘Rohit’s captaincy has been fantastic’
The former all-rounder reserved huge praise for captain Rohit Sharma, stating that the 35-year-old has been leading the team very ‘wonderfully’ and has got a bunch of talented players with him who are contributing at the right time.
“You have to lead from the front and I think, that’s what good or great captains do. He [Rohit] has been doing it in a very right manner. When a skipper starts, the entire team looks up to him because he is showing them the path. I think he is doing it wonderfully. He is helping himself and the team to win games convincingly. His captaincy has been fantastic and it’s all about winning," he said.
“Captaincy comes into play when the chips are down and you need to take some drastic decisions, whom to play, which player should be in or out. Nothing much has to be done with the batters because they play their roles but while fielding, he is the key. The field placements, assessing the opponent batter… this is what we see. He goes to the bowler and speaks with them.
“He has quality players with him who are contributing at the right time. Be it Shami, Siraj, Kuldeep or Bumrah, anybody for that matter… So, I wish everybody remains fit, with no hiccups before the game. I wish them all the luck," he added.
