New Delhi: The AAP on Tuesday attacked Rahul Gandhi over the issues of high electricity tariffs and regularisation of unathorised colonies during the Congress rule in Delhi.
Addressing a press conference, AAP's Delhi unit convenor Dilip Pandey said the Congress was trying to "unsuccessfully project Gandhi as the saviour of Delhi".
He said the Gandhi's awakening to address the woes of Delhi will not help bolster the party's prospects in the MCD elections.
"Despite being in the power at the Centre for 10 years (from 2004-14) and 15 years in Delhi (from 1997 to 2013), what did the Congress do to address the issues of national capital?
"The Congress will get to see the results in the MCD polls as it had witnessed in the Delhi Assembly elections," Pandey said.
The AAP leader accused the Congress of "fooling" the residents of about 312 unauthorised colonies on the issue of their regularisation.
He also targeted Gandhi over the electricity tariff in the national capital, questioning the number of times the tariffs were hiked in Delhi during the Sheila Dikshit-led Congress regime.
He held the Congress equally responsible, like the BJP, for the garbage mess in Delhi and playing politics over it.
Incidentally, the AAP launched an assault before Gandhi could address a rally at the Ramlila Maidan.
Gandhi, in the rally, attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for playing the "politics of false promises" as he set the tone of his party's campaign for upcoming civic polls in the national capital.
He targeted both Modi and Kejriwal for leading an "individual-centric" governments.
"Both Modi and Kejriwal engage in politics of false promises," Gandhi said as he listed poll promises made by Modi and Kejriwal ahead of 2014 Lok Sabha and 2015 Delhi assembly polls respectively.
