Ahead of the Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu, slated to be held in 2016, and ad war has broken out between the DMK and the AIADMK across television channels and newspapers.
The Opposition, DMK, has attacked Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa over the Chennai floods for not personally visiting the affected areas.
They have also criticised her for inaugurating projects via video-conferencing rather than going to the spot.
The AIADMK has hit back saying that the DMK leadership has been absent from the Tamil Nadu Assembly for years.
The fresh war between the arch rivals comes on a day when AIADMK cadres are offering special prayers across the state to mark Jayalalithaa’s birthday celebrations.
Greater Chennai Corporation has planned to hold various events and welfare programmes, including mobile medical camps, blood donation drives, planting tree saplings and cleaning water bodies.
Jayalalithaa supporters also got tattoos of the AIADMK leader while over 200 Amma canteens decided to serve free food to all customers.
