Mumbai: On its 131st foundation day, the Congress is facing a major embarrassment with the party party's Mumbai mouthpiece India's first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru for the state of affairs in Kashmir, China and Tibet while also criticising its current president Sonia Gandhi.
The article states that Nehru should have listened to freedom fighter and former home minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's views on international affairs.
The editorial in Mumbai Congress mouthpiece Congress Darshan has taken a dig at Nehru and now party leader Sanjay Nirupam, who is editor of the mouthpiece, is under the scanner for the faux pas.
"We accept the mistake was made in the article. Action will be taken against the writer," said Nirupam.
Congress also tried to cap the controversy with senior party leader Salman Khurshid clarifying on the goof up. He lauded Nehru's role in the freedom struggle and added that the All India Congress Committee would look into the article.
Even as the controversy erupted, Sonia Gandhi led the Celebrations at Congress headquarters in Delhi. The December edition of the mouthpiece also focuses on her. While it avoids the issue of her foreign origin, it discusses her early life in detail.
