New Delhi: With the entry of new faces into the Bharatiya Janata Party, the old guard has been sidelined and declined tickets for Delhi Assembly elections. Angry and sulking, the old faces are now thinking of contesting as independents. One such BJP leader is Dr Urmila Chandel who is planning to contest from Karol Bagh.
Making her anger against the party evident, she said, "Parachute se candidates giraye gaye hai (Candidates are parachuted into the party.)" She accused BJP president Amit Shah of playing the worst kind of politics in the party.
On Tuesday, she led the protest outside the BJP office seeking reasons behind the move. Waiting for 30 years, she had proposed her name for Karol Bagh and Patel Nagar constituencies.
Chandel is a Dalit leader with a doctorate degree and had left her job in the Delhi Police to join politics. She will file her nomination on Wednesday from Karol Bagh seat against BJP's Yogendra Chandoliya, AAP's Vishesh Ravi and Congress's Madan Khorwal.

Her media coordinator Pramod Kumar even went to the extent of calling Amit Shah and Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley "duffers". He added that the party is bringing in beautiful faces to contest elections.
In another example of infighting in Patel Nagar, the BJP ignored its former MLA Surendra Pal Ratawal and gave ticket to Mayor Yogendra Chandoliya which, too, has led to protests.
Ratawal who lost the 2013 polls to AAP's Vishesh Ravi said, "Mujhe logon ne nai, apno ne haraya hai (I lost because my supporters betrayed me)."
