The shocking revelation in the video accessed by CNN-IBN where Kanhaiya told the Supreme Court team that the police did not arrest the attackers even after he had identified them in the courtroom, has pushed the Delhi police on the backfoot.
Reiterating its old stand, the Delhi police categorically denied any lapses in the security arrangement of Kanhaiya Kumar when he was attack by lawyers in the Patiala House court.
Sources from the Delhi police further asserted that Kanhaiya was was produced in full police protection with 40 police personnel from South District in 6 cars sent with him apart from the additional security back-up in the court premises.
Earlier, narrating the incident at Patiala House Court, Kanhaiya said,
"The media ambushed me as soon as I reached the gate. Then the police brought me inside. And then a man in a lawyer's uniform attacked me and it looked like he was waiting for the moment, sitting in anticipation. The attackers were calling others to join them, and shouting, 'he's arrived'. They were all attacking me, so much so that I was almost disrobed in the process."
Delhi Police has been under sharp criticism for their inaction in the entire fiasco at Patiala House court on February 17. The recent statement of Kanhaiya's ordeal only blows holes in Delhi Police's defense to cover-up in the aftermath.
