DMK leader quits, demands Stalin as CM candidate, says sack Kanimozhi, Maran, Raja
Considered a Stalin loyalist, Kalyanasundaram sent in his resignation letter, dated July 30, to DMK chief M Karunanidhi.

Chennai: The DMK Organising Secretary PV Kalyanasundaram resigned from all party posts demanding party treasurer and heir apparent MK Stalin be declared as the party's chief ministerial candidate for 2016 assembly elections.

Considered a Stalin loyalist, Kalyanasundaram sent in his resignation letter, dated July 30, to DMK chief M Karunanidhi and to party general secretary K Anbazhagan.

He also demanded that Rajya Sabha MP Kanimozhi and former union ministers A Raja and Dayanidhi Maran be removed from the party to restore the party's image. Kalyanasundaram also demanded that all leaders facing land grabbing and disproportionate assets cases be stripped of their posts.

Kalyanasundaram's resignation letter is being seen by many as a bid to pressure the DMK chief Karunanidhi to make way for his younger son Stalin following the party's routing in the recent polls.
