The CNN-News18-Gramener projection for Uttar Pradesh suggests a hung Assembly with BJP emerging first with 193 seats, followed by the SP-Congress alliance with 133 seats and the BSP a distant third with just 67 seats.
The projections are a weighted average of major exit poll predictions which predicted a BJP win in what is billed as the big semifinal before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, and a referendum on PM Narendra Modi's demonetisation drive.
Shortly after the exit poll predictions, chief minister Akhilesh Yadav told BBC Hindi that the Samajwadi Party-Congress coalition is willing to tie up with the Bahujan Samajwadi Party to prevent the "BJP from remote-controlling Uttar Pradesh".

Today's Chanakya, however, predicted a humongous victory for the Narendra Modi-led Bhartiya Janata Party in Uttar Pradesh with 285 seats, followed by SP-Congress alliance with 88 seats, and BSP, a distant third, with 27 seats.
ABP News-CSDS, on the other hand, released its results on the basis of phases in Uttar Pradesh.
In Phase 2 of UP polling, the ABP News-CSDS puts the SP-Congress ahead with 37-43 seats, while the BJP is tipped to get 15-21 seats. The BSP, it says, will get between seven and 11 seats.
ABP News-CSDS says the BJP will win 33-29 seats that went to the polls in the first phase, while the Congress-SP combine will win 20-29. The BSP, it says, will get 12-16 seats.
