Expulsion from BJP doesn't bother me: Jethmalani
The BJP on Tuesday expelled the Rajya Sabha MP for six years over his anti-party statements.

New Delhi: A defiant Ram Jethmalani on Tuesday lashed out at the Bharatiya Janata Party, which had expelled him earlier in the day, saying it was "bent upon committing suicide".

"I am least bothered about being expelled from the party. I will continue to fight against corruption. But the BJP is bent upon committing suicide," Jethmalani said late on Tuesday evening.

The BJP expelled the Rajya Sabha MP for six years for his anti-party statements. The decision was taken by party president Rajnath Singh.

Jethmalani has been a vocal opponent of many of the BJP's decisions. He will be an independent Rajya Sabha member from now on.

BJP spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman told reporters that the party's board unanimously took the decision to expel Jethmalani on Monday. "The issue has been in discussion since November 26. Now the decision has finally been taken," she said.
