Hyderabad: Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy has named his new party 'Jai Samaikyandhra Party'. Reddy who had quit Congress following the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh had floated his party last week.
Kiran who was known as a staunch Congress loyalist had openly rebelled against party's decision to carve out Telangana from Andhra Pradesh.
Kiran Reddy told CNN-IBN that the Samaikyandhra Plank is for development of Telugu people who have been insulted by the bifurcation. "The united state that people want is what I am representing," he said. "Leaders don't matter. People do. Leaders can go to whichever party but my party will reflect the peoples will and wish," he added.
Speaking about his party's poll prospects, Kiran Reddy said that he would not join hands with any of the party which supported division of Andhra Pradesh. "People will decide who wins the elections. We are giving a plank to maintain the Telugu dignity. I will not unite with anyone who is responsible for states division," said Reddy.
Reddy who was reportedly urged by TDP leaders to join the party when he resigned from the Congress said about the party, "TDP didn't even spell out its stand till now. How does Naidu expect me to cooperate with him."
Reddy had resigned from all party posts of the Congress and stepped down as the CM of Andhra Pradesh a day after Parliament passed the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Bill 2013 (Telangana Bill).
