Ahmedabad: Babuji Thakor of Congress has won the Mansa Assembly bypoll in Gujarat, counting for which was taken place on Wednesday. Thakor defeated Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate DD Patel.
The bypoll to the Mansa Assembly constituency was significant for both the Congress and the BJP since this is the first major poll before the assembly polls in the state later this year.
The bypoll was necessitated following the death of former Speaker and BJP MLA Mangaldas Patel.
A high voter turnout marked the by-election in Mansa constituency of Gandhinagar district on March 18, as over 75 per cent voting was recorded.
