Jammu: Separatist leader Yasin Malik on Friday appealed to United Jihad Council chief Syed Salauddin to clear up a supposed confusion over attacks on people in the telecom infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir.
Two people have been killed and three have been injured in separate attacks in the last four days. According to police, the attacks are being carried out by terrorists. In fact, they said the Lashkar Islam terror outfit has warned telecom operators to close their businesses.
"I cannot ask government but I will definitely like to suggest to Syed Salaudin to form a committee to investigate this because he has openly condemned the attack therefore, the men behind this should be identified," Malik said.
Reacting to this, Congress leader Manish Tewari said, "Ever since BJP-PDP government has come in Jammu and Kashmir, sovereignty of India has been challanged repeatedly."
On Monday, guerrillas killed a man and injured two others in Sopore town in an attack on a BSNL SIM card selling shop. On Tuesday, another person was killed in Dooru village on the outskirts of Sopore.
The attacks on people engaged in cell phone business came after police removed a high powered communication equipment from a tower in Sopore that was fitted there by guerrillas to improve their communication network.
