New Delhi: A day after getting bail in an alleged fake degree case, former Delhi Law Minister Jitender Singh Tomar today said that he has a "lot to say" on the "political conspiracy" leading to his arrest and nearly two months long incarceration.
Responding to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's public denouncement of him, he struck a conciliatory tone, saying the former may have been "misled" by media reports on the issue.
The Tri Nagar MLA was strident in his attack on the media saying that the press had lapped up all negative stories against him "fed by the police".
"I have a lot to say now and I will definitely do that. The public, who have been bombarded by negative stories about me fed by the police, need to know the truth of political conspiracy against me by BJP," he said.
Tomar, who was arrested on June 9, was on Thursday granted bail by a court here after imposing several conditions including a bar on his travel outside the national capital without prior permission from the court and joining the investigation as and when required.
"Kejriwal is my leader and my Chief Minister. He also may have been misled by exaggerated media reports. I am very much in my party and will abide by whatever it decides," he said.
Angry with disclosures pertaining to Tomar's alleged fake degrees, AAP had referred the issue to the party's internal Lokpal which is yet to take a call on the issue.
After defending him initially, Kejriwal had accused Tomar of "keeping him in the dark" and "misleading him" by showing certain RTI documents which later turned out to be fake.
"I was never in the wrong. The Police is being used as a political weapon against me. All the big IPS officers have been set after me. Is not the conspiracy clear? I will definitely answer to the party's Lokpal given a chance to do so," Tomar said.
Tomar was arrested following a probe by the Delhi police on the complaint of Bar Council of Delhi that he had obtained a fake law degree from a Bihar college.
An FIR was registered against Tomar on June 8 at Hauz Khas police station for alleged offences of cheating, forgery, using forged documents as genuine, forgery with intent to cheat and criminal conspiracy under the IPC.
