Poll panel orders transfer of senior Bihar officials
The notice was because the official held public meeting in the school premises.

New Delhi: The Election Commission on Monday ordered the transfer of a top district official and a senior police officer in Bihar for organising a public meeting of a union minister in a school that caused "inconvenience" to students appearing for an examination.

The poll panel has taken "serious note" of the public meeting of Minister of State for Home Shakeel Ahmed in the premises of Khirma High School at Keoti in Darbhanga district on Saturday.

The panel wrote to the chief secretary of Bihar that "the public meeting (caused) inconvenience to the students who were appearing in a practical examination".

"Having considered the issue", the commission ordered that "Arun Prasad, IAS, the district magistrate Darbhanga, and P K Darad, the superintendent of police, shall immediately be transferred and posted to a post not connected with elections".

The poll panel also ordered suspension of Rameshwar Bhagat, sub divisional officer Darbhanga Sadar, and "disciplinary proceedings" against him.
