Shortly after Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee announced on Tuesday that her party would vote for Pranab Mukherjee, the UPA candidate called her up to thank her for the decision.

"Yes, he rang me up and I requested him to visit West Bengal first after winning the election," Banerjee said.
Banerjee earlier announced the party's decision saying it had no other option and that it was not to support any individual.
Mukherjee told a Bengali TV channel, "I welcome Mamata Banerjee's decision to support my candidature."
