These celebrations come at a time when Telangana is witnessing one of the toughest summers with soaring temperatures and a drought that has seen around 100 deaths.

Giving details of the programme, Telangana Tourism and Culture Department Secretary B Venkatesham said, "Basically, Martyrs Memorial in Lumbini Park is coming up for which the Chief Minister will be laying the foundation stone. After that the tallest flag in India will also be hoisted by the Chief Minister."

Venkatesham added that there will be big fireworks show at the Hussain Sagar lake in Hyderabad for about half an hour. "We are also illuminating 10 roads in the city with immersive lighting which means when people walk on those roads, they would feel they are a part of the lighting," he said.
