RSS slams Hamid Ansari, says if Muslims want to be treated equally, they should demand equal laws first
Ansari's comments on Muslim quota have provoked several political reactions besides a debate on social media.

New Delhi: Vice President Hamid Ansari has found himself in the eye of a storm with his strong pitch to develop strategies to address issues of identity and security faced by Muslims in India.

Ansari sought affirmative action from the government, which espouses the policy of growth for all. According to the Vice-President security, education and empowerment in decision making are the principal problems confronting India's Muslims.

RSS has slammed the Vice President saying that if Muslims want to be treated equally, they should demand equal laws first. "I found Ansari's comment bizarre. if they want equality, they should ask for similar laws first and government does development for everyone but first of all, Muslims should support the government," senior RSS leader MG Vaidya said.

Earlier in the day, VHP had condemned Ansari's statement, VHP Joint General Secretary Surendra Jain said, "With due respect to the Vice President's chair, VHP condemns this rank communal statement. This is a political statement which does not befit the office of a Vice President."

Ansari's comments on Muslim quota have provoked several political reactions besides a debate on social media.
