Stumps, Day 1: Saurashtra were 192/8 in 84.4 overs (Vasavada 77, Dhawak Kulkarni 4/30)

5:05pm: Vasavada dismissed by Dhawal Kulkarni for 77(214), Kulkarni gets his fourth wicket. Saurashtra 192/8 vs Mumbai.


4:35pm: Vasavada is batting on 72 and Prerak Mankad is batting on 44 as Mumbai reach 176/7 in 79 overs against Mumbai on Day 1 of Ranji final.

3:45pm: Dhawal Kulkarni has taken three wickets and Shardul Thakur has took two as Saurashtra are struggling at 146/7 after 67 overs on the opening day of the Ranji Trophy final against Mumbai.

3:15 p.m. Prerak Mankad has joined Vasavada and has looked pretty busy in his 32-ball stay so far, scoring 17 runs. Saurashtra 136 for 7 in 61 overs.

At TEA on Day 1, Saurashtra are 126 for 7 and must thank Arpit Vasavada’s 59* for taking them even this far.

2:10 p.m. Vasavada completes his fighting fifty, but not before losing another partner as Abhishek Nayar strikes to remove Punia for 6. Saurashtra on the brink of folding up at 109/7 in 52 overs.

1:57 p.m. SIXTH WICKET DOWN! Jani’s (13 off 50) resistance has been broken by Shardul Thakur who takes his second wicket. Saurashtra 95 for 6 in 49 overs and in real threat of almost conceding the final on the first day itself.

1:50 p.m. Mumbai making life suffocating for the Vasavada (42* in 130 balls) and Jani (13) off 49 balls.

1:30 p.m. Vasavada (42) is approaching a hard-fought fifty and has Chirag Jani (5) on the other end. Saurashtra 86/5 in 43 overs.

1 p.m. Saurashtra lost Shah (13) in just the second over after lunch to slip to 77 for 5. Kulkarni was the wicket-taker once again as he claimed his third victim of the day.

12:05 p.m. Lunch in Pune. Saurashtra have limped to 77/4 in 34 overs. Vasavada on 38*, Shah 13*.

12 noon: Vasavada has stemmed the rot a bit batting at 34* off 93 balls and Shah is battling it out at the other end on 13*. Saurashtra 73 for 4 in 33.3 overs.

11:05 a.m. Spoke too soon, perhaps. Sandhu ejects Jackson for a 27-ball duck. Saurashtra reeling now at 42 for 4 in 21 overs.

11 a.m. Jackson and Vasavada trying to build a partnership after Mumbai rocked the Saurashtra top order, but runs coming at a trickle for the duo. 42 for 3 in 20 overs.

10:15 a.m. It’s turning into a disastrous start for Saurashtra. Kulkarni makes it 36/3 in 11 overs by removing big fish Pujara for just 4.

10:05 a.m. ANOTHER WICKET! And this time from the other end as Thakur edges out the other opener, Jogiyani, caught behind for 8. Saurashtra rocked early. They are 22 for 2 in 7.1 overs.

10 a.m. KULKARNI STRIKES! Saurashtra have lost their first wicket as Barot (14) walks back, caught by Iyer. 22 for 1 in 6.4 overs.

9:50 a.m. Saurashtra openers Barot and Jogiyani have got off to a confident start having milked fast bowlers Kulkarni and Thakur for 22 runs in the first five overs.
